BAD SMOKE - CRAWL Y'ALL PT. 1 & 2

I don't know much about this group other than this is some real nice funk. If The Crawl is a dance, I would love to see it.

JUSTIN HINDS & THE DOMINOES - SAVE A BREAD

I wish I had this version of Justin Hines & The Dominoes "Save A Bread" on a 45, but all I have it on is this comp, The Rock Steady Years 66-68. Everything on this compilation is great, but "Save A Bread" is my favorite. I have the later version that was released on his LP "Jezebel" as "What You Don't Know", but this early version is killer.

JACKIE MITTO - WALL STREET

This has to be the most laid back song Jackie Mittoo has ever done. So nice.

MICHAEL PROPHET - LOVE & UNITY / SCIENTIST - YOUR TEETH IN MY NECK

Michael Prophet's Love & Unity is one of my favorite songs ever. It was Mixed by Scientist and The Roots Radics is the backing band. It is the original vocal track to "Your Teeth In My Neck" on Scientist's dub LP, Scientist Rids The World of The Evil Curse of The Vampires which was the album used for the K-JAH Radio on Grand Theft Auto 3.

TINA TURNER WITH IKE TURNER & THE KINGS OF RHYTHM - YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANTED

B-side of the song "Too Hot To Hold" off the 1969 LP "So Fine". This song is not on the album and I like to think Tina is talking to Ike.

S.O.U.L. - WHAT IS IT

If you don't know about the 1971 LP on Musicor Records from S.O.U.L. entitled What Is It, you're not as up on thangs as you thought you were. S.O.U.L. is one of the funkiest bands ever with Paul Stubblefield on drums, Walter Winston on guitar, Gus Hawkins on bass & Lee Lovett on vocals and flute. #drumbreaks #heavyfunk

OHIO PLAYERS - HERE TODAY AND GONE TOMORROW

This is the first single off the Ohio Players 1969 first full length LP Observations In Time. Very soulful joint. Sounds nothing like their later stuff.

SYMPHONIC FOUR - WHO DO YOU THINK YOU'RE FOOLING PT 1 & 2

1968 soul on the Zudan label out of St. Louis. The band members are from STL but the song was recorded in Detroit with the backing band consisting of members of Parliament / Funkadelic. The lead singer currently lives in East St. Louis. The song was also sampled for Black Milk's "Try".
